Below are the main cost components that contribute to the final landed cost of an imported vehicle.
Open Market Value (OMV)
The customs-assessed value of the imported vehicle, which generally includes the purchase price, sea freight, marine insurance, and other incidental charges incurred before the vehicle arrives in Singapore. Most taxes and duties are calculated based on the OMV.
Excise Duty
20% of the vehicle's OMV. This is imposed on all imported passenger cars entering Singapore.
Goods & Services Tax (GST)
GST is calculated on the sum of the OMV and Excise Duty.
Registration Fee (RF)
A fixed registration fee payable when registering the vehicle.
Additional Registration Fee (ARF)
Calculated based on Singapore's tiered ARF formula based on the vehicle's OMV. Electric vehicles may also qualify for EEAI rebates.
Road Tax
Annual road tax depends on the vehicle type and its engine capacity or electric power output.
Additional Flat Component
Certain vehicle categories incur an additional flat road tax component.
Port Charges
Charges for handling, processing and clearing your vehicle when it arrives in Singapore.
Homologation Charges
Inspection, testing and compliance work required before the vehicle can be registered for use in Singapore.
Used Import Surcharge
Applicable only to imported used vehicles.
